Filipina Migrant Women in Kosovo: Navigating the Challenges of Dual Discrimination

This article sheds light on the experiences of women from the Philippines working in Kosovo, focusing on the dual discrimination they face as both migrants and women. It explores the concept of gendered invisibility in the context of migrant domestic workers, the prolonged working hours of migrant workers within households, where there is often a blurred boundary between their private lives and employment relationships. The paper examines the specific challenges that these women face in integrating into Kosovo's culture and labor conditions, including the social, economic, and cultural challenges that ensue upon their integration into a new society. In addition to examining their integration challenges in Kosovo, the paper situates these women’s experiences within the wider context of international labor migration in the care sector. The research utilized a qualitative approach, specifically conducting eight in-depth interviews with Filipina women with a semi-structured questionnaire.
