Selina Engelberth is a graduate student in Comparative Middle East Politics and Society at the University of Tübingen. She holds a BA in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Bonn. Her research interests include memory culture, inter-group boundary-making and violence, sectarianism and groupism, neopatrimonialism, and authoritarian regime dynamics. Selina was involved in the research project “Return and Belonging after Conflict-induced Displacement” at the Bonn International Centre for Conflict Studies, where the groundwork for the article published here was laid.
